Some Interesting Facts:

  • We are destroying 2.47 Acres of forest/second

  • We are destroying 150 Acresof forest/minute

  • We are destroying 214,000 Acres of forest/day

  • We are destroying 78 Million Acres of forest/year

  • This is all done with the clear cutting of our National Old Growth Forests

Some impacts of clear cutting include wild life extinction, loss of jobs in fishing, agriculture, and recreation industries, increased climate change, decreased quality of water, reduced water reserves, winter flooding and summer drought, silt in streams that require the water to be treated before we drink it, depleation of tourism, land slides, global warming, and the area is less attractive to look at.  All of these have severe impacts on our communities even if we are not directly affected it will eventually reach everyone.
